Within only three weeks the donation goal of the emergency relief fund "GUERICKE hilft!" was already reached thanks to the 420 donors. "Whether it was small sums or large sums: Every euro received has contributed to the fact that we are now able to support 111 students in need from all countries of the world with a one-time amount of 450 euros", Rector Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jens Strackeljan thanks all those who have contributed.
As of May 4, 2020, Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg will again open the Campus Service Center and University Library to its students. In compliance with the Containment Ordinance of the State of Saxony-Anhalt as well as the hygiene measures issued by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, the face-to-face service cannot offered completely.
Instruction in relation to the corona virus safety and hygiene regulations and the 2020 summer semester
In addition to standard online teaching, it will also be permitted to hold a certain number of face-to-face events at the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg as of the 4th of May 2020, provided that the relevant hygiene regulations are complied with. In compliance with specific hygiene requirements, these prerequisites will be set out in decrees by the relevant ministry as well as in internal university regulations for laboratory training, practical sports classes, colloquia, examinations, etc. A supplementary instruction for the implementation of events requiring student attendance will be available by the 30th of April 2020.
After nearly four weeks, the German federal and state governments have started to gradually relax the measures put in place to combat the coronavirus outbreak in Germany. The 4th Corona Containment Ordinance in Saxony-Anhalt will permit schools and certain shops to reopen on a very limited basis next week .
