About the Student Relief Fund
The coronavirus crisis has far-reaching impacts on both public and personal life. Many people, including students who have lost their part-time jobs, have financial concerns. However, students could also find themselves struggling due to other circumstances and crises.
Many students have turned to the university for help and support. All of them have fallen into financial and existential difficulties. Students from low-income families, for example, may currently be receiving even less support from their parents, who themselves may be having to cope with wage cuts or a complete loss of income.
Planned final assignments and part-time jobs have fallen by the wayside
All plans for final exams are currently on hold, and future income (such as for Sita) that was believed to be secure has suddenly vanished. She was just about to write her master's thesis in Medical Systems Engineering at a company. But this opportunity was cancelled due to the coronavirus. She also lost her part-time job and is now also facing huge financial problems.
OVGU and the Gesellschaft der Freunde und Förderer der Otto-von-Guericke-Universität Magdeburg e.V. have taken the decision to offer swift and unbeaurocratic aid. The objective of the "GUERICKE helps!" student relief fund is to ease the financial worries of students to some extent.
