Interruption of Heat Supply 
The heat supply must be temporarily interrupted for the final time from May 4, 2026, through October 4, 2026. This is due to remaining work on the new local heating network on the main campus. Technical facilities that require heat year-round will be temporarily supplied by mobile heating units.

PORT . TIME . JOURNEY is the title of an exhibition that will open on April 28, 2026, at 2 p.m. with a vernissage at the Wissenschaftshafen. Running through September 27, 2026, the exhibition showcases the photographic explorations of participants in the “Digital Photography Practice” course within our university’s “Studying at 50” program, focusing on the Wissenschaftshafen site —the site’s metamorphosis from a commercial port serving as a transshipment, storage, and anchorage point into a center for innovation, knowledge transfer, urban life, leisure, and culture.

A new administrative circular provides information on the notification and documentation requirements in the event of incapacity for work or service (excluding occupational disease).

Starting January 29, 2026, the parking area behind Building 10 will be completely closed for approximately 8 weeks due to civil engineering work.

Due to technical problems at the heat supplier GETEC, there may be temporary fluctuations in the heat supply in buildings 5, 26, 27, 28, 30, 31, and SH3, as well as in buildings 18 and 22. GETEC is confident that a constant heat supply can be restored by the end of this week.

Due to construction work being carried out by Städtische Werke Magdeburg (SWM), access to the university campus via Gareisstraße/Henning-von-Tresckow-Straße is expected to remain closed until the end of March 2026.

The Children's University team is looking for interested individuals who would like to give a lecture at the Children's University. Children's University lectures are usually held quarterly on a Saturday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Speakers are still needed for February/March 2026, for May 31, 2026, for the Volksstimme Pusteblume Children's Festival, and for December 2026. Holiday planning for the coming year is in full swing. To help you plan your 2026 holiday calendar through to the end of the year, here are the dates for the Christmas and New Year 2026/2027 holidays, which include three working days: From December 24, 2026, to January 3, 2027, the buildings, including the computer center and library, will be closed.
