The 'Department of Academic Affairs' (German: Dezernat für Studienangelegenheiten) is the central support and referral office for all propective students, current students and staff in all matters relating to studying at the Otto-von-Guericke University.

The 'Students' Office' (German: Studentensekretariat) processes applications from propective students, deals with matriculation and re-registration issues and applications for a vacation semester, changes of subject and/or degree and removal from the university register.

The 'Advice and Counselling Service' * (German: Allgemeine Studienberatung) offers information for prospective students about studies at OvGU and about application procedures and admission requirements. Students are provided with confidential advice and counselling on all issues relating to their academic career, including a change of university, changes of subject and/or degree, personal problems and dealing with conflict.

The group 'Quality Assessment in Teaching' (German: Qualitätssicherung in der Lehre) is responsible for assessing the quality of the education provided at OvGU and for internal and external evaluation procedures.
